Ingredients



For the cake:

-2 cups all-purpose flour
-1 teaspoon baking powder

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-3/4 cup buttermilk
-1/2 cup cocoa powder

-3 cups powdered sugar
-1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-4 tablespoons heavy cream
-1/4 cup cocoa powder

For the decorations:

-Shaun the Sheep-shaped cookie cutter
-Chocolate chips
-White frosting
-Green, yellow, and black food coloring

Instructions



1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in the vanilla extract.

4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Beat until just combined.

5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool completely.

6. To make the frosting, beat the butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the powdered sugar and beat until combined. Beat in the vanilla extract, heavy cream, and cocoa powder until combined.

7. To assemble the cake, place one layer on a cake stand or plate. Spread a layer of frosting over the top. Place the second layer on top and frost the outside of the cake.

8. Using the Shaun the Sheep cookie cutter, cut shapes out of the remaining frosting. Place the shapes on top of the cake. Place chocolate chips around the edges of the cake for eyes.

9. In separate small bowls, mix white frosting with green, yellow, and black food coloring to create a brown color. Use a piping bag to pipe the brown frosting onto the cake to create the sheep’s face, ears, and legs.
