- 1/2 cup (120 ml) buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) store-bought caramel sauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan with butter and line the bottom with parchment paper. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and both sugars on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated. Reduce the speed to low and add the buttermilk and vanilla extract. Beat until just combined.
Add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Increase the speed to medium and beat for 30 seconds. Remove the bowl from the mixer and use a rubber spatula to fold in the caramel sauce until just combined.
